Overview
Medical oncology treats cancer with medicines — classical chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, targeted drugs and immunotherapy. Which medicines, in what sequence, is decided by the type and stage of the cancer and your overall fitness.
Most treatment happens in our day-care unit: you come in the morning, receive your cycle under nursing supervision, and go home the same evening.
What to expect
Before every cycle
Blood counts within 48 hours, a quick review by the team, and pre-medication to prevent nausea and reactions.
During the infusion
Sessions run from thirty minutes to a few hours depending on the protocol. A family member can sit with you. Tell the nursing team immediately about any burning at the drip site, chills or breathlessness.
Between cycles
You get a written diary card: what to eat, which symptoms to report, and a phone number that answers day and night. Fever of 100.4°F or higher during chemotherapy is an emergency — call immediately.
Our technology & approach
Safe preparation, gentler delivery
Cytotoxic drugs are prepared under laminar airflow and double-checked against your protocol chart. For patients on long courses we place chemo ports so daily needle-pricks are not needed, and our supportive-care protocols (anti-nausea, growth factors, mouth-care) keep most patients eating and working through treatment.
